Summer T-shirt jersey
120-180 g/m2: light, breathable, drapes close to the body. This is the weight to look for in warm-weather tops.
EU 34-44, converted
European womens sizes 34-44 convert to US 4-14 and UK 8-18 by two fixed rules: subtract 30 for the US size, add 4 for the UK size. Match your bust, waist and hip in centimetres to the chart, then check fabric weight and wash temperature before you order.
The short version
Scroll the strip sideways — 6 cards.
120-180 g/m2: light, breathable, drapes close to the body. This is the weight to look for in warm-weather tops.
220-300 g/m2: nearly double the summer weight, built for structure and warmth. Same fibre family, very different garment.
Denim runs 340-540 g/m2. Lighter denim sits at the 10 oz end; rigid, heavy denim reaches 16 oz.
Standard full-length inseams run 76-81 cm (30-32 in); petite cuts run 69-74 cm (27-29 in). The waistband size never tells you the length.
Takes about 2.0-2.5 m of 145 cm-wide fabric across EU sizes 34-44 — a useful sanity check on how much cloth the cut contains.
Needs 3.0-3.5 m of 145 cm-wide fabric. More cloth means more weight on the hanger, so the g/m2 figure matters twice.
Work through the five checks in order; each one removes a named cause of a wrong-size order.
| European size (EU) | US size | UK size |

Take your EU size, or convert: the US size is the EU number minus 30, the UK size is the US number plus 4.
The European womens range covered here runs from EU 34 to EU 44, which maps to US 4-14 and UK 8-18. The conversion is arithmetic, not a guess: EU 38 is US 8 and UK 12, and the same step holds at every point of the range.
The full row-by-row mapping is set out in the table below and on the Womens Size Conversion Chart page, which also lists the body measurements behind each number.
Because the rule is fixed, the real source of error is not the conversion but the measurement underneath it — which is why the next step is the tape measure, not the checkout button.
Measure in centimetres over light clothing, then compare all three numbers with the chart — the largest mismatch decides the size.
A European size 38 bodice pattern is drafted for a bust of 84-88 cm, a waist of 64-68 cm and a hip of 92-96 cm. Other sizes step up and down from that block, so your three measurements, not your usual label, are what place you on the chart.
Manufacturing tolerance is normally plus or minus 1.5 cm, so a garment that measures slightly off the chart is within spec, not faulty. If you sit between two sizes, let the largest measurement decide — hip for trousers and skirts, bust for dresses and tops.
Write the three numbers down once and reuse them: the same bust-waist-hip set works for every EU brand's chart, and the Womens Size Conversion Chart page keeps them beside the full 34-44 range.
Every number on this page is drawn from standard pattern-drafting and care-labelling practice: the EU-US-UK conversion rule, the EU 38 bodice block measurements, published fabric weight ranges and the ISO 105-C06 grey scale. No prices, brands or retailers are named, because the figures hold across shops. Ranges are stated so you can check them against any specific garment's own label.
Sources and checks
All figures are stated as ranges so they can be verified against any brand's published size chart and care label.
