Every EU size from 34 to 44 converted to US and UK numbers, with the body measurements behind the middle of the range.
The conversion rule is fixed arithmetic. Subtract 30 from the European size to get the US size; add 4 to the US size to get the UK size. EU 38 therefore equals US 8 and UK 12, and the same step holds across the whole 34-44 range.
The full mapping: EU 34 is US 4 and UK 8; EU 36 is US 6 and UK 10; EU 38 is US 8 and UK 12; EU 40 is US 10 and UK 14; EU 42 is US 12 and UK 16; EU 44 is US 14 and UK 18.
The numbers only work if the body measurements underneath them are right. A size EU 38 bodice pattern is drafted for a bust of 84-88 cm, a waist of 64-68 cm and a hip of 92-96 cm, with a normal manufacturing tolerance of ±1.5 cm.

Measure bust at the fullest point, waist at the natural waistline and hip at the fullest part of the seat, all in centimetres. If your three numbers straddle two sizes, let the largest one decide — hip for trousers, bust for dresses and tops.
Length is a separate check. Standard full-length trouser inseams run 76-81 cm (30-32 in) and petite cuts run 69-74 cm (27-29 in); the size number says nothing about which one you are buying.
